Architecture
Philadelphia, more than any other city in the country, illustrates the history of American architecture. The architectural heritage of over more than 300 years is visible throughout the city and region with outstanding examples of every type of building and virtually every architectural style found in the United States.
Almost 100 buildings are considered of such importance that they have been designated National Historic Landmarks. This impressive architectural collection includes pioneering works by such notable architects as William Strickland, Frank Furness, Daniel Burnham, George Howe, Louis I. Kahn, Robert Venturi, I.M.Pei and Frank Lloyd Wright.
